ASR Microelectronics recently announced that multiple 5G CPE products based on its 5G NR platform ASR1901 have entered large-scale production and are now being deployed across the 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network led by PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk, IDX: WIFI (“SURGE”), a leading digital infrastructure and connectivity provider in Indonesia. These deployments are designed to serve residential households, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) fixed broadband access needs, further accelerating the development of Indonesia’s fixed broadband infrastructure and digital transformation.

As the deployment continues to progress, multiple CPE products powered by ASR1901 were also showcased at MWC Barcelona 2026, the world’s premier mobile communications industry event. During the exhibition, representatives from SURGE and ASR Microelectronics jointly shared their collaboration achievements in advancing 5G FWA deployment in Indonesia at ASR’s booth. The two parties also held in-depth discussions on future network expansion and ecosystem development, further demonstrating their long-term commitment to accelerating regional digital infrastructure development.

SURGE, through its subsidiary PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama, secured the 1.4GHz frequency spectrum for Region 1 (Java, Maluku, and Papua) following Indonesia’s regulatory approval process, marking a key milestone in expanding inclusive fixed broadband connectivity across the country.

The strategic collaboration between SURGE and ASR Microelectronics has been underway for approximately one and a half years, marked by a shared commitment to building the n50 network ecosystem for 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services operating on the 1.4GHz spectrum. This long-term partnership reflects a joint vision to bring high-performance 5G connectivity into real-world applications, enabling affordable, high speeds and scalable fixed broadband access for broader communities.

ASR brings to this collaboration a mature and proven 5G ecosystem, as evidenced by the successful commercial deployment of 5G CPE products based on the ASR1901 platform. These products have been adopted by a number of international solution providers and brand partners, including Quectel, SIMCom, Wewins, and Notion. Together with ASR, these partners have rolled out multiple terminal products through a broad network of OEM and ODM partners across a wide range of form factors and application scenarios, collectively establishing an open, diverse, and scalable 5G FWA ecosystem that is ready for mass adoption. In addition to overseas markets, the ASR1901 platform has also begun commercial deployment in the domestic market, with related terminal products being rolled out progressively. This further validates the platform’s maturity and replicability across different network environments and application scenarios.

The collaboration between SURGE and ASR is further realized through the IRA – Internet Rakyat project, a nationwide initiative aimed at delivering affordable, reliable, and high-quality internet access to communities across Indonesia. The strong potential of IRA is demonstrated by the exceptional market response, with more than 1.1 million customers pre-registered since the opening of pre-registration in November 2025. Building on this momentum, IRA – Internet Rakyat has commercially launched on February 19, 2026, positioning the service as a key driver of Indonesia’s digital inclusion agenda.

These efforts enable faster and more reliable internet access for homes and businesses without the need for extensive fiber-optic installation. By leveraging 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology on the 1.4GHz spectrum through customer premises equipment (CPE), fixed broadband connectivity can be deployed more quickly and at a lower cost, particularly in underserved and unserved areas. Through the IRA – Internet Rakyat initiative, SURGE and ASR aim to accelerate fixed broadband penetration, reduce the digital divide, and empower students, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and local communities to fully participate in the digital economy. Improved connectivity supports online education and remote learning, enables MSMEs and local merchants to expand their digital presence and reach wider markets, and allows entrepreneurs, government services, and communities to adopt digital tools for daily operations. Through its collaboration with SURGE, ASR1901 has successfully supported Indonesia’s first commercial deployment of 5G SA FWA based on the 1.4GHz (n50) frequency band.
