Recently, the 5th China IC Design Innovation Conference (ICDIA 2025), organized by the China Integrated Circuit Design Innovation Alliance, was grandly held in Suzhou. During the event, the “Empowering China with Strong Chips” Innovation IC Award Ceremony took place. With outstanding technical innovation and wide market recognition, ASR Microelectronics’ ASR1806 mobile smart terminal chipset platform stood out among numerous entries and won the “2025 China Innovative IC – Excellent Core Award.”

As a prestigious annual recognition platform for domestic ICs, the “Strong Chip Award” aims to encourage design innovation, promote the use of domestic chips, and accelerate the commercialization of technological achievements. This year’s competition saw 141 cutting-edge chips from 102 companies competing across five major categories—underscoring the intense level of competition.

The award-winning ASR1806 is a 4G SoC chip designed by ASR Microelectronics for automotive telematics (OEM) and financial payment sectors. Featuring an innovative architecture, the chip integrates RF, baseband, memory, audio codec, and other key functional modules into a single chip—significantly reducing PCB space and overall costs. It includes a high-performance ARM Cortex-A7 processor running at up to 1.5GHz, built-in LPDDR memory, and supports stable operation of multiple applications under the SELinux secure environment, offering robust system processing capabilities.

ASR1806 has passed AEC-Q100 automotive-grade reliability testing and supports key functions including dual SIM dual standby, independent FOTA/DFOTA updates, and in-vehicle emergency call features such as eCall, NG-eCall, and AECS. With a built-in circuit breaker mechanism, the chip provides multiple layers of operational safety protection—making it highly suitable for connected car applications and helping OEMs accelerate product development and mass production.

In terms of chip-level security, ASR1806 supports Security Boot and TrustZone, along with secure storage for desensitized data and encryption keys—meeting the high-security demands of automotive and financial POS markets.

With its high integration, reliability, and versatile features, the ASR1806 is widely adaptable across industries including automotive communication and financial POS terminals. To date, it has been adopted by over 15 automotive brands and models, with shipments continuing at scale.
